It seems that everyone dreams of the fame and fortune of being a rock star. Even as a young boy and adult I use to take guitar and even trumpet lessons looking to embrace those dreams of being on the road, carefree and playing to thousands of fans.

As I got into video games I acted out the dreams of being a hero in games like metroid, starfox, legend of zelda just to name a few. Then all of a sudden comes guitar hero and rock band. These games have become so popular you would think that it was the beatles first trip to the United States playing on the Ed Sullivan show.

Every major department store that you go into these days you will see a video game display with 3 or 4 kids playing with a virtual guitar throwing down on the many different standard rock songs that these games have to offer. Who knew that being a rock star in your own living room would become so popular.

We all know that Guitar Hero and Rock Band are huge, and now
other game companies are joining the music act, such as Disney with Ultimate
Band
, Nintendo with Wii Music, and Konami with Rock
Revolution
.

Just how important is this growing sector of the industry? According to UBS
analyst Ben Schachter, music games have been a "key driver" this year, with
"sales of music-themed games responsible for 19% of overall industry software
dollars in July (15% YTD) and 44% of y/y industry dollar growth during the month
(32% of growth YTD)."

Total dollar sales in the U.S. games industry hit $9.47 billion through July,
according to the latest NPD data. That's 35 percent ahead of 2007 at this point,
and Guitar Hero and Rock Band have no doubt

Like the title said, finally someone is addressing the bloodlust or what I would say is the mature game genre that nintento has virtually ignored since the launch of the Wii video game console. I have been a big fan of nintendo over the years but I have to say that as usual the nintento games on the Wii are fun and challenging but lack that kick ass, get scared out of your pants, ohhh my god feeling that you get playing mature games. hopefully the release of the video game Madworld will bring some much needed blood and cuts to the gamers of the Wii video console.

Finally, someone is wising up to the fact that the Nintendo Wii doesn't address
the bloodlust of most gamers.

Fortunately, Sega is stepping up with a new game that brings a comic-book
sense of ultra-violence to the Wii's motion control functionality. href="http://www.sega.com/platinumgames/madworld">Madworld is a new game
scheduled for 2009 that brings blood and gore into your Wii-world.

Why is this cool? Because the Wii offers a whole new way to engage with games
and other humans, unlike traditional console games. The notion of grabbing
things in the virtual world and using them as part of the game is really cool as
you can literally control the action of the game.

Often times, brutality is expressed in a spiteful nature. There are already
plenty of games out there that hit this mark; however,

According to NPD data for July, Nintendo has further solidified its hardware dominance with monthly sales of 608,400 units of its twin-screened DS handheld, and 555,000 units of its demographic-busting Wii home console.

And the solid summer numbers are not just limited to Nintendo, with research specialist NPD offering that the entire videogame industry has registered a sizeable jump of 28 percent throughout July to push the market through to $1.19 billion USD.

While July is generally seen as a slow month for videogame sales, the monthly figures reveal that….

Madden NFL 2009, the latest version of the No. 1-selling video football game, went on sale. Anxious gamers lined up Monday night at some Brevard County stores so they would get the game when it became available at midnight.

Some local stores reported relatively slow sales early in the day, but expected more business Tuesday night. Others reported brisk sales right from the start.
